The primary purpose of the Luigi and Simonetta Lombard Foundation, as clearly expressed in its Statute, is "the establishment of a historical documentation center on the textile tradition in Casentino with particular reference to the Lanificio di Stia as a cultural and industrial expression of the wool sector ". The Foundation, which is non-profit, must also take care of "the establishment of a museum to be placed in Stia and possibly in premises where the original Lombard plant operated" giving life also "to a historical-statistical-economic study center of the textile-wool sector ". The President and the Steering Committee have the task of operating for the realization of the Foundation's statutory purposes by making use of the sales of the assets and other acquired resources, with the advice of a Scientific Committee whose members are appointed by the Board of Directors upon proposal of the President.
