GABRIELE GRISOLINI LAST TEXTILE OF THE LANIFICIO DI STIA, FIRST DESIGNER OF THE CASENTINO CLOTH

Saturday 10 March 2018, as part of the cycle of events "Yesterday and Today, Characters in the Weaving", the Exhibition was inaugurated: Gabriele Grisolini:

the last Weaver of the Lanificio di Stia, the first Designer of the Casentino Cloth. The exhibition is a tribute to the memory of Gabriele Grisolini, the little big man with deep blue eyes who has handed down the name of the Lanificio di Stia and the tradition of the Casentino Cloth. Through the exhibition of garments, fabrics, photos and documents, he remembers his long and brilliant activity as a weaver and stylist.

Gabriele Grisolini was employed by the Lanificio di Stia as a weaver since 1959. In 1961, at only 21, he founded the company known today as "Tessilnova". In 1996, moved by the passion for the history of the Lanificio di Stia, he organized in the spaces adjacent to his activity the "documentary exhibition on the historical Lanificio di Stia", the first embryo of the current Museum. In 2001 Gabriele participated in the creation of the "Luigi e Simonetta Lombard" Foundation, current owner of the Museo dell'Arte della Lana, giving its contribution to the drafting of the museum project, which could not be realized due to its premature death, which occurred in 2009. The exhibition was curated thanks to the precious collaboration of Claudio, son of Gabriele, and of the Tramandiamo Laboratory.

The Lombard Foundation, the management and staff of the Museum thank Gabriele for what he taught us about the art of wool and for his generosity in having us handed down objects and documents that are now part of the visit. The exhibition will remain set up until Sunday, September 16th and can be visited in the opening hours of the Museum. Show Period 10 March - 16 September 2018
