THE FABRICS OF BENOZZO GOZZOLI IN THE CAVALCATA DEI MAGI

The exhibition, designed and built on the basis of research by Andrea Gori, Director of the Museo dell'Arte della Lana, represents in the vast panorama of initiatives inspired by the art of the Florentine Renaissance, an experiment of exceptional interest.

The privilege of being able to admire the beautiful fabrics displayed is due to the admirable work of the textile company Rubelli di Venezia, thanks to which Andrea Gori was able to create the fifteenth-century fabrics for which he had deduced, with scientific rigor, motifs and colors from clothes and gualdrappe of the characters that make up the fairy tale Cavalcata dei Magi, painted in 1459 by Benozzo Gozzoli on the walls of the chapel in the Palazzo dei Medici.

The intent of the exhibition is to highlight the relationship between pictorial art and commercial life in fifteenth-century Florence, examining the productive activity of the shops where crafts were taught and technological innovations were applied.
